This is my 27th year in the Taxi Trade, I started in the office as a taxi booking operative swiftly moving onto dispatching on the late and nightshifts. After a short time I completed my taxi test and started driving taxis whilst still working in the office call taking /dispatch work at Foxhunters/Eastcoast. During my time at Eastcoast I focused on driving but latterly resumed a former successful career in in the sales environment having spells working with Airtours, Everest, and Orange Telecommunications.Where else have I worked? I've had successful spells driving with Chariots, Blueline Taxis and Crown Taxis in North Tyneside.In the autumn of 2010, I was given the chance to work at Phoenix Taxis in a new position as New Contract/Sales Manager working alongside Alex Hurst M.D. Since joining company I have captured many large contracts.I must admit have been fortunate to work within a vibrant and progressive company with positive senior management, this has help me to contribute to the company’s turnover rising from around £1.6m to £3.8m. With considerable investment from Phoenix and intense recruiting we have doubled the fleet with plenty of hard work and endeavour. I have increased the number of taxi drivers working at Phoenix by almost 50% over 180 drivers coming through our doors many from the ranks of the unemployed, the knock on effect has led to significant increase of jobs completed. Through networking I am still able to continue to help the company with its “Go Green Go Phoenix policy” We now have over 25 Electric Vehicles and 40 Hybrid Taxis the fleet is still growing, we are certainly pioneers in this field.This year 2015 heralds the arrival if the all-electric executive Tesla the first of many I hope2017 a new office in Durham still under the name of Pratts, we now operate under licence in North Tyneside, recuitment is now the focus.Its now three years since I left my post in the Phoenix office after a short illness. I am now on the road doing the every day job as a private hire driver. Currenty I am trying to concentrate on the Executive and the Wedding markets Last autumn I took delivery of a stunning Mercedes Vito, this vehicle has every extra a car could have starting with reclining heated rear seats DVD two TV's Ipod DAB Playstation Chiller for a Champs and a stunning led interior lighting show.
