I have worked in public education now for 7 years as a middle school band director. I came into my position with a 5 year plan to grow the band program in numbers and in skill. When I started the band program was around 60 students and the student skill level was at grade 1 music(6th grade level). During my first 5 years the program grew to 250 students and skill level grew to grade 3-4 music. My groups have consistently received Excellent and Superior ratings at events. With fundraising, donations, and fighting for funding, I have also been able to bring in roughly $40,000 worth of equipment into the school's band program. I have a passion for teaching band and work hard for my program in as many ways possible. I wear many hats including educator, guidance counselor, budget manager, people manager, event planner, fundraiser, recruiter, advertiser, repair tech, book keeper, etc.In 2019, I had the honor of being recognized in the top 10 for the Music Educator Of The Year award sponsored by Music and Arts.
