Dr. Dickerson joined the Optical Systems Group at Luna Innovations Incorporated in June 2006. Dr. Dickerson has been awarded several Phase I & II SBIR contracts involving quantum dots, nanoparticles, and spectral analysis to develop a variety of fiber optic sensors, including molecular probes. Bryan received a B.S. with honors in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU) in 1995, and earned a M.S. in MSE from VPI&SU in 1997 on the characterization of ferroelectric films by spectroscopic ellipsometry. In 2005, he completed a PhD in MSE from VPI&SU on organometallic synthesis kinetics of CdSe quantum dots. Prior to Luna, Bryan’s background also included metal-matrix composites, pulp and paper processing, and superconductivity. Dr. Dickerson leads interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems.Specialties: Materials synthesis and characterization: I-V & C-V, Hall mobility, ferroelectric hysteresis, UV-IR reflection-transmission spectroscopy, metallography, TEM, SEM, AFM, SAM, VASE, and EDX. Characterization and modeling of electrical and optical materials: heterostructure bipolar transistors using GaAs and GaN. Custom spectroscopy systems: Raman, cryogenic photoluminescence of films and solutions, photo-pumped laser gain, pulsed LED characterization.
