I was able to apply my managerial and leadership skills as I helped lead a group of individuals to completing an audit project as a part of a contract with District of Columbia School Systems. I was in charge of setting up the computers and other items in the office each morning and performing collaboration sessions with my team members to ensure that everyone was on the same page and aware of their task for the day. Furthermore, I helped to monitor each individuals progress throughout the course of the day and made sure that everyone was working effectively and efficiently to complete our goals. This internship enabled me to become more adept at managing a group of individuals, motivating them to achieve results, and helping them throughout the course of the project when they encountered various challenges.

As a result of the hard work, growth, and success throughout my previous summer at the Circuit Court, I was able to come back for a second year. During my second year, I still performed some of the same tasks from the previous year, however, I was also given more responsibility and was allowed to take on newer, more complicated tasks. I still continued providing outstanding customer service to individuals who came in to receive a marriage license, business license, and to be sworn in as a notary for the public. I continued to apply my organizational skills by arranging customer information such as marriage records and business history. I continued answering customer phone calls to assist them and provide answers to their questions. However, during my second internship, I was given the opportunity to not just issue marriage licenses, but to issue business licenses, which is something I was not able to do the prior year. Being in the clerks office for an additional year allowed me to continue to grow, learn, and develop my skills from the first year and it also a great experience to have as I sought to start a career in a business.

I provided delightful customer service to individuals who came in to receive a marriage license, business license, and to be sworn in as a notary for the public. At the conclusion of my internship, I delivered a presentation to the head clerk of the circuit court and several other members in regards to my experience and what I learned.

I learned how to work efficiently to complete as many customer orders as possible, while also ensuring excellent quality. I also completed customer orders on schedule, delivered them to the customer in a presentable manner or made sure their packages were ready to be picked up from the office. Furthermore, I was able to assist with marketing the brand to family, friends, and other individuals who I encountered. During the course of this position, I was able to gain valuable first-hand insight on what it took to be an entrepreneur, successfully run a company, and ensure efficient operations.
