I am an experienced software engineer, technical leader, and recovering New Yorker living in Northern California. My approach to technology is pragmatic, always aiming to match the right tools to the right tasks. In other worse, I refuse to engage in any "my language is better than yours" arguments. With my education in mathematics, I bring a uniquely analytical perspective to the complex challenges in software development. Moreover, my background in business development for architecture and planning firms ensures that every solution is not only technically innovative, but also aligned with strategic objectives.

Software Engineer (Acquired By Pinterest)Brigade Aug 2018 - Jan 2019As a member of Brigade's backend team, Bryan builds and supports systems to power the first-ever social network built for voters. Specifically, the team is responsible for a suite of Ruby microservices and a Rails app behind a Graphql API that is consumed by android, ios and web clients. Additional responsibilities include queuing and messaging systems for communication between services and supporting the data and operations teams when necessary to deliver key metrics, reporting and monitoring throughout the stack.Projects completed include:- Built a new user generated content feature allowing users to share the story behind their activism on a particular campaign- Ported an existing system from a python stack to a ruby microservice implementing the custom framework and skeleton to bring a key product component into better alignment with the rest of the backend services. This involved extensive work with an Elasticsearch DSL and resulted in a cleaner implementation of the system's core business logic. This system supports a key product feature of Brigade's value proposition to connect a real voter identity to users' online political actions and identity.- Integrated with Twilio to allow optional SMS notifications for high impact and high urgency campaign updates, including extensive instrumentation for analytics and performance tracking.Voters Not Donors

Software Engineer (Acquired By Wag!)Finrise, Inc. May 2016 - May 2017Burlingame, California, UsAs one of Finrise's first engineers, Bryan developed the payments and loan servicing system, including integrations with multiple external services such as payment gateways and a just-in-time credit card provider. Bryan also built the support interface used by Customer Support Reps to assist customers with payments and account status. Other projects included developing an Alexa skill for pet owners to ask if certain foods are safe, including facilitating the Amazon approval process.Finrise believes in a simple idea: A patient's access to quality healthcare shouldn't be limited by what's in their bank account — so we've been reimagining how patients plan and pay for out-of-pocket treatments and services. For patients, we've created the simplest way to finance treatments and services that are not typically covered by insurance, directly in the doctor's office. The entire process takes less than 7 minutes, and funds are available immediately. For doctors, we've introduced modern technology to unify the payment process, eliminating hours of paperwork and old school hardware solutions, simplified down to a single, beautiful, online dashboard.Finrise operates in select sectors, starting with Vetary.com, a marketplace designed exclusively for veterinarians and pet owners. We're working hard to create solutions for Dentists (Toothline.com), and Audiologists (Hearwise.co). -
