Dispatch Manager
My role was to ensure all orders left correctly and on time, with all the batch codes and dates recorded to a high standard as per the food industry, so all audits could be achieved successfully and all food products had full traceability. Organising the staff shifts to meet the needs of the company. Complying with all the food hygiene rules and regulations and constantly monitoring these to make sure they are being adhered to at all times. Managing the daily stock checks and liasing with all our outside contractors like Ocado, Sainsburys, Gist, DFDS, Robertsons, Coop, so all the vehicles are in on time to pick up their daily consignments. Having full autonomy of the dispatch unit, with daily mainenance checks to ensure all bay doors, lights, auto banding machine etc were in good working order. Having a good working relationship with all internal departments. Integrating a brand new scanning system using zebra handheld scanners, ironing out any glitches before going live and monitoring all input/ output data to our computerised system which was Microsoft Nav, checking all staff were following the correct procedures and every stock item was being scanned in/out from their relative departments and everything tallied up using the figures from production. I was also constantly checking to make sure all product orders for each supermarket were getting scanned out appropriately and that no items were left on the scanners at the end of the day.
Stock Controller
I have worked In this family run company since 2001 and was hand picked by the company owner and Director Brian Quinn whom I met while working at Goggins in 2001. Supagard specialises in high end proffessional car care products which are distributed both in Europe as well as internationally. During my time here I have recieved 3 promotions and worked my way up the management ladder from warehouse worker to assistant Manager. With working here for so many years there has been different shifts in staff as well as the company owner's positions, and the sad loss of Mr Brian Quinn. My current position is now Stock controller. Throughout my time here my role has primarily been to to get all orders out correctly and on time. Whether it's been by organising staff and increasing efficiency, using kpi's and eliminating problems, to evolving the work areas to best meet our demands. I also build kits, use time management to ensure the required products are available for packing by other staff members and build orders, produce packing labels and have them ready to dispatch in the allocated time frame. During my time here I have completed staff appraisals, reports for the company director, stock control and yearly audits, implemented many improvements to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse using continuous improvement methods, reworked the stock system using the company's navision computer system, took staff meetings, came up with an attendance initiative to improve staff sickness levels which had a high success rate. Had input into new products and developments to increase revenue. I also completed two dangerous goods courses and recieved my certificates to enable me to ship DG items for both sea and air freight. I successfully sent orders using these methods for two years. Am a first aider having completed the first aid course twice during my time here. This is just a fraction of my skill set which are all transferable.
Warehouse Supervisor
Goggins LTD was a packaging company, we had many clients from Glasgow City Council, Greggs the bakers to Supagard LTD to whom im presently working for. My main duties was to ensure we met the needs of each client and organise the delivery of their required packaging materials. Doing Stock checks and the yearly audit, maintaining our computeised stock system, carefully inputing and checking delivered stock. Staff appraisals and man manegement. During my time here I also passed my forklift training gaining my forklift licence, extended my First aid certificate for another 3 years and completed my NVQ level II in warehousing which was done in-house. I would also note I was only meant to do 3 modules of this warehousing course, but as my tutor was impressed by the speed and dedication shown by myself to complete each module, she got permission to do the full course with me which enabled me to get my full NVQ qualification.
Office Administrative Assistant
My main duties at Citadel Couriers was to take calls from our clients, organise an uplift and delivery service and assign the correct method of transport, I would then pass this information to the controller who's duty was to organise the vehicles from transit vans to peddle bikes. Our clients were diverse, from Scottish Power to Lawyers that needed legal papers moved from one place to another. There was also some warehousing which made up a small portion of this job.
Research Assistant
My post as a research assistant was based on a 12 month contract, completing various questionaires for mostly Glasgow City Council. This included their leisure, housing and park devision. I was also involved in some private research work which was undertaken in the Parkhead Forge. I was also soley asked to undertake more research for this particular client at the weekend as he was pleased with my previous work. During my time at Truegrit, I completed my communication 4 (higher english), my SVQ level II administration and completed a personal development course with Fairbridge. I also completed my advanced first aid course and was assigned additional duties of being the company first aider and health and safety officer.
Master Fitter
I successfully negotiated many interviews, practical and mental tests that whittled down 500 potential candidates to the final 10 to win an apprenticeship with Kwik fit. I then went on and worked my way up to become a master fitter. As well as car maintenance, I learned Stock control, people skills with working with the public as well as the general maintenance of my depot. This realIy set me on the path to my working life and was a steep learning curve as well as a challenging part of my life. During my time with Kwik fit I gained 2 city and Guilds for automotive parts fitting skills and also completed the Princes Trust course. This course concluded with a motivational speech which then lead to a lunch Invitation with HRH Prince Charles in the City Chambers to once again make a speech on how this course helped develop me as a person, this was made in front of many leading organisational directors from varies company's.
