With over 13 years of experience in fire and fuels management, I am passionate about protecting natural resources, enhancing public safety, and supporting local communities. As the District Fire Management Officer for the U.S. Forest Service, I oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of fire and fuels programs for a large and diverse district. I am also responsible for leading and developing a team of fire and fuels specialists, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and coordinating with internal and external partners and stakeholders.In my current role, I have successfully managed multiple complex and high-risk fire and fuels projects, including prescribed burns, hazardous fuels treatments, and wildfire suppression. I have also leveraged my skills in fire management, fuel management, and strategic human resources leadership to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of the district's fire and fuels operations. Some of my achievements include securing a large grant for fuels reduction, implementing a new training and mentoring program for fire and fuels staff, and increasing the district's prescribed fire and fuels treatment acreage by 25%.
