Performed the technical assessment of specifications, the power purchase agreement, the operation and maintenance agreement, fuel supply agreements and all aspects affecting the technical viability of the project. Post financial close monitored the construction of the power station including production of progress reportsAttended a factory inspection test of two 150 MW steam turbines for a coal-fired power station in construction in the Philippines. This involved checking the HP module clearances of Unit 1 and witnessing the HP rotor over-speed spin test and measurement of vibration at turbine trip speed of Unit 2.In December 2013 Jacobs merged with SKM.

Represented clients during performance and reliability tests for numerous CCGT power stations ranging from 55 to 2000 MW. Lenders engineer responsible for providing independent technical and commercial advice to the lenders for the Ashdod Energy 55 MW, Ramat Negev 115 MW and Rotem 420 MW CCGT plants in Israel. Duties included assessment of project documentation, production of a pre-financial close feasibility reports, monitoring of construction, raised concerns regarding the EPC contractor’s performance, approval of drawdown/disbursements requests made by the owner, production of monthly progress reports, attendance at each plant’s performance tests, checking of the performance test results and production of the taking over certificates for each plant. Provided technical due diligence services for various power plants in Europe and the Middle East. This included managing a multi-discipline project team of consultant engineers, review of technical and contractual documentation, identification of technical risks and production of due diligence reports.Technically reviewed EPC contractor tenders for a 400 MW CCGT plant in Ghana. The review included checking the completeness and compliance with the contract specification, checking their quality documentation, raising technical queries and providing the recommendation for the preferred contractor.Technical adviser to the developer considering a new location for a 1200 MW H class CCGT power station project in Spain. This entailed confirmation that the environmental constraints at the new site could be met and layout optimization based on the new site constraints. Expert witness in the arbitration between the client and a Kuwaiti construction company regarding the supply of used gas turbines. The dispute concerned the extent of supply of equipment for conversion of the machines from 60 to 50 Hz and the adequacy of the solution provided. The outcome of the arbitration was in favour of the client.

Provided technical support for development teams on power generation projects and proposals in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the AmericasUndertook site visits to perform high level due diligence studies and to assess the feasibility of installing new power plant. Carried out plant cycle design and optimisation, using Thermoflow proprietary modelling software.Provided operating costs, capital costs, maintenance costs, availability data to support proposals and technical input into contract documentation, including power purchase agreements, gas sales agreements, steam sales agreements and tolling agreements.Lead engineer on the final construction phase of the Croydon 50 MW simple cycle power station project. Responsibilities included project programming, design reviews, organisation and participation in the hazard and operability (HAZOP) study, production of equipment specifications, site supervision of contractors, assisted with the balance of plant commissioning and supervised the power station performance test.

Lead project engineer on the Fort Dunlop 100 MW simple cycle power station, held technical responsibility for a multi-discipline team that constructed the plant. Specific tasks included the production of the balance of plant process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)s, accountable for the design of the gas compression system, production of equipment specifications and data sheets, organised and participated in the HAZOP study, provided technical support for the commissioning team and acted as technical representative at client site meetings.Engineering responsibility for the procurement of the reciprocating engines and associated waste heat recovery boilers for a 12MW distillate fired power station in the British Virgin Islands. Produced equipment specifications, conducted vendor reviews, performed design integration and provided process input into the overall station design.

Provided mechanical design input associated with a successful tender for a natural gas metering and conditioning plant, supplying high-pressure gas to a 70 MW Frame 6 combined cycle plant for BASF in Seal Sands. Also responsible for the design, procurement and construction of piping systems associated with this plantProduced tender mechanical equipment specifications for a 660 MW coal-fired combined cycle plant in China.

Lead engineer for proposals, providing a total engineering solution for a number of turnkey, contract energy management and design/manage tenders. This involved coordination of a multi-discipline team of engineers, conceptual design, preparation of process flow diagrams and P&IDs, production of mechanical specifications, bid analysis, report writing and presentation of findings to the client. Proposals included 105 MW Frame 6 based combined cycle power station for Associated Octel, tyre incineration plant in Wolverhampton, 4 MW Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant for Monsanto, 12.5 MW CHP plant for Smith Kline Beecham and 3 MW CHP plant for the Deephams water treatment plant.Responsible for the detailed design, specification and procurement of ancillary equipment for an 11 MW Mirrlees dual-fuel reciprocating engine-driven CHP plant for Manchester Airport. Provided mechanical engineering support on major EPC contracts, including a 15 MW combined cycle plant at Harworth Colliery, a 4 MW CHP plant at St Georges Hospital and a 4.5 MW CHP plant for Rhône-Poulenc.Lead engineer for a multi-product bromination plant for Associated Octel. Produced specifications and conducted procurement analysis for the mechanical equipment including pumps, vessels and fractionating columns.

Conducted a pipe stress analysis for the steam system for a gas turbine CHP plant at Welcome Foundation.
