My duties at Sun Microsystems have been extremely varied, including hardware testing, writing custom software, and supporting the manufacturing center. Test Engineer – Responsible for writing and maintaining the software to test a variety of hardware platforms, and writing custom software to support manufacturing.Manufacturing Engineer – Responsible for writing custom software to aid in the manufacturing process. Also responsible for validating complex customer orders from a hardware perspective and working directly with customers to ensure their builds are progressing as desired. Worked closely with manufacturing personnel to build customer orders, design software tools, provide training, etc.Senior Test Technician – Responsible for in-depth trouble-shooting of high-end systems, maintaining the internal network and testing infrastructure, writing training documentation and training new employees.

Senior Systems Administrator for the Anchorage office of a world-wide law firm. Duties included setting up, supporting, maintaining and upgrading hardware and software on a variety of Windows systems (servers, desktops, laptops, and palmtops). I was also responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading the LAN in the office and the WAN which connected us to our headquarters and from there to all the offices around the world. Many aspects of this job included regular interactions with IT staff in remote locations.I provided technical support for the office personnel and assisted with complex projects and software training. Additional duties included ordering hardware and supplies, maintaining and programming the phone system, and maintaining fax machines. I supported standard Windows programs such as MS Office, along with specialized software including Exchange, Views, CMS, Lexis, Interaction, and other law-related software products.

Windows NT network administration for client companies. This included setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting NT networks with exchange servers, internet connections, network-wide virus protection systems, file and printer sharing groups, and network printers. I designed a PC inventory management system for a large office, provided user technical support, and set up and troubleshot client PCs.
