Assistant Principal
CurrentAs an assistant principal I manage special education services for students who require a small, highly structured classroom environment in order to meet their behavioral and social emotional needs and help them experience academic success. Previous to this position I was a special education teacher and taught at ACES-Whitney High North which is a high school that meets the needs of students with significant mental health and behavioral needs. In my current position as Assistant Principal I must stay current with special education law, attend PPT's, review IEP's, evaluate teacher effectiveness, plan administration of state assessments such as SBAC, work with and collaborate with parents/guardians and outside agencies such as DCF, work with sending districts to update them on student progress, analyze and update building policies and procedures, maintain current information about state initiatives such as SEED and Common Core State Standards, and work with teachers to develop and assess curriculum to ensure alignment with Common Core Standards.
