About Bryan Methods

I'm currently working on writing screenplays for animation, especially in the preschool space. I'm always open to collaborate, so if you have a project underway that needs a prolific writer with an eye for the emotionally resonant moments in every story, please get in touch! I'm a three-time published novelist passionate about writing for children, looking to make the transition to writing for cartoons. Animation, in all its wonderful forms, is my first love, and was the subject of my Master's thesis. I have a genuine love for preschool programming and the craft that goes into writing for it. I love working within an established universe and finding emotionally resonant moments between the characters and making their relationships shine. Let's connect!I also develop original projects and have no shortage of new ideas that can be developed. I've been working with a Japanese animation studio on the early development of preschool cartoon Sugar Glider Fun Times, the story of three adorable mini marsupial friends helping keep the Great Tree safe with slightly magical macadamia nuts imbued with the power of creation, restoration and destruction. I divide my time between the UK and Japan, and find it easy to work hard and let the words flow out wherever I am in the world. I also have experience writing for educational videos and translating Japanese children's manga to English. As a former professional musician I also found writing lyrics an invaluable way to convey stories, and it helped that I won awards for my (not at all cringe) poetry once upon a time. I hold a PhD in English Literature, having written on collective memory and the memorialization of war literature. I also love to help others develop their craft, and work part-time as a creative writing tutor and essay consultant here in Japan.

I have been developing and writing for a preschool CG show called Sugar Glider Fun Times with a Japanese animation studio who previously worked on Pinkfong Wonderstar. Sugar Glider Fun Times is shaping up to be an utterly adorable show I believe could be a smash hit, and is in need of a producer! Other original projects in early development include a whimsical postcolonial allegory set in snowy Scotland called The Ermine and the Dragon, and a contemporary fantasy called Merlin's Absolute Legends that has great historical figures from British history brought to the modern day as young teens to confront the social and interpersonal issues children face today.Having switched career tracks, I am very eager for screenwriting credits, especially in the world of preschool cartoons.
