I am a recent MSc graduate from Carleton University and will be starting a PhD in Biology in September 2022. During my MSc studies, I taught several courses in the Carleton University Earth Sciences Department as a teaching assistant. These include an introduction to earth sciences, sedimentation and stratigraphy, and paleontology. During this time, I discovered my passion for higher education and teaching, and I am now aiming to eventually become a university professor! For the past two years I have also worked as a research assistant for Carleton University operating out of the Canadian Museum of Nature. My work as a research assistant focused heavily on evolution and paleontology. I participated in numerous field studies to Alberta and Saskatchewan where I learned proper techniques for recording geological data, fossil excavation and preparation, remote wilderness health and safety, and fossil prospecting. I also learned many laboratory techniques including fossil description, phylogenetic analysis, histological analysis, and how to create thin sections. As I am working towards a career in research and education, I am enthusiastic about any opportunities related to these fields and am willing to work any position that will deliver valuable experience!
