I am fortunate to have the opportunity to run Kovar Systems, the business-to-business division of Kovars Inc. We provide a variety of tools, products, and services to martial arts schools around the globe, and specialize in consulting services for school operators. Our mission is to enable school operators to improve all aspects of school operation. We focus on three key areas: Student Acquisition, Student Retention and Staff Development. We host many industry events tailored specifically for school owners, particularly our ProMAC conferences - I have some mean party-planning skills! I love having the opportunity to share the industry-leading strategies that have made our Sacramento-based martial arts schools phenomenally successful for nearly four decades with the rest of the world. I love that we help ambitious entrepreneurs to achieve new levels of success and live their dream of running a martial arts school. Having helped clients transition from being part-time instructors to full-time owners with staff through their school is incredibly satisfying. I also love the innovation. I was honored to run the flagship academy in Carmichael. As a 14,000 sq ft, two story facility with 4 full sized training rooms this proved to be a dynamic and challenging endeavor. After reaching an all-time reported low of 274 active students at the beginning of March 2010, my team and I built and sustained positive growth and momentum month after month. As of May 2011, we generated 25% total growth in revenue year over year, and posted a monthly ending active count of 363. As of June 2012, total revenue was up 31% year over year, and our active count was running at 437 students. I loved the people I get to work with every day, and had a team of fantastic and energetic instructors! This was a simply wonderful role and experience.

Managed a team of roughly 40 team members at a Target Distribution Center, managing the flow of outbound freight and merchandise out of the building before being shipped to stores. Helped bring the bottom-performing team in the building from an average daily productivity of 85% to consistent daily performance above 100% in under a year's time.
