In this position I managed up to 24 soils, concrete, concrete constituents, and equipment calibration technicians and other engineers as we provided quality assurance through substantial completion of civil construction of Plant Vogtle units 3 & 4. These units are now the first new operating commercial nuclear reactors in the U.S. in over 30 years. I also performed or helped manage the field work, lab work, and reporting for soils and concrete on the Three Mile Island nuclear Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) pad in PA. One of the more interesting offsite jobs I was asked to perform involved geotechnical drilling off a barge in the Delaware River to provide foundation recommendations for new U.S. Coast Guard navigation lights. Due to the resignation of the technical lead just before report submittal I ended up doing most of the logs, lab revisions, and report revisions for this job.

For one wind farm I coordinated between three drilling companies, two subcontractors for geothermal and electrical resistivity testing, and five additional field engineers, arranging all sample shipments for each of our site visits and coordinating logistical arrangements for the engineering team. As a Project Engineer in Alaska I have performed a variety of civil/geotechnical engineering services over five summers while completing my B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil/geotechnical engineering. I have completed subsurface explorations for projects as small as a cell phone tower and as large as new residential developments over undesirable soils (such as peat, variable permafrost depths, ancient braided stream environments, etc.), a 171 megawatt natural-gas-powered power plant foundation, and several large maintenance and office buildings in the Arctic. I have performed quality control inspections for projects as varied as a reinforced concrete dam on an island in Prince William Sound; gravel roads, airstrips, and bridge abutments in the Arctic; and numerous pile foundations. The pile foundations include both freeze back/slurry piles and vibratory-driven piles in deep permafrost, including a one-acre, 390-pile truck maintenance building built over a 40-foot-deep thaw bulb. I have worked on designs for both deep and shallow foundations, a dock foundation in the Aleutian Islands, and a residential septic system. I have valuable research, field, and design experience including work in very remote locations. I have performed and am comfortable with all stages of geotechnical work, including proposals, field explorations, laboratory analysis, and final engineering report preparation. I have established good relations with all clients for whom I have worked and brought in additional work by exceeding client's expectations on multiple jobs to the point that I have been requested by name.
