After spending 27 years in the investments industry, serving my final 7 years as the Director of Fixed Income for the Virginia Retirement System, I chose to pursue a different career path that first led me to a small consulting firm that specializes in supporting small government entities, Berkley Group. During my time with Berkley, I found myself serving as the Director of the Department of Social Services for two different counties in Virginia, where I trained the senior management in leadership skills, re-built policies and procedures, and assisted in recruiting a permanent Director. While with the Leumas Group, a small-business government contractor and multi-family investment firm, I served as the Director of Finance, with responsibility for everything from accounting to payroll to investments. I also worked closely with the firm's owner on the acquisition and syndication of multi-family real estate investments and with developing policy and strategic ideas for the firm.I am currently with the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia, serving as a member of the executive leadership team and handling responsibilities for the Finance Department, the F&B Purchasing Department, and the resort's IT Department. Beyond working closely with colleagues to consistently add value to the resort, my primary role is to ensure that the daily finance, purchasing, and IT operations of the resort exceed the objectives of Kingsmill's stakeholders - our customers, our members, our partners, our people, and our parent company, Escalante Golf.
