Design the manufacturing process for an orthopedic medical device created of bioresorbable polymers. Design the storing area for the raw materials of the medical device, the transfer operation of the bioresorbable polymer, the assembly area, the shipping area, analyze and monitoring the environmental conditions of the process and the Ethylene Oxide Sterilization. Estimate and analyze the capital, operation cost and profitability of the manufacturing process and assure the highest levels of quality and safety of the design.

For increase the efficiency, a material database of the 20% of Edwards products was developed, achieving the reduction of Edwards products parts numbers by eliminating duplicity. Dog bones from plates were manufactured for mechanical testing such as three-point bending and pull to measure the modulus, elongation, hardness and the point break. For the Research & Development of a new product, reverse engineering was used to investigate the suitability of the product in the manufacturing process. In the Research & Development and Global Supply Chain investigation, in the Material Characterization Center, the following test were completed: Elastic Modulus, Melt Flow Index, Shear Viscosity, Dimensions Measurements: Microscope, Friction Coefficient and Infrared Spectrum.

Study the management of the sterilization process using ethylene oxide for medical devices as catheters, intraocular lenses and bone prosthesis. Research the wet chemical scrubber and dry bed reactant media system designed to capture the ethylene oxide.
