As Senior Sergeant, I accumulated 20 years of experience mentoring and working with new trainees/recruits as they completed the field training process. After years of printing thousands of pages of reports, I knew there had to be a better way.My leadership role here also allowed me to see the application of use of force. As a first-line supervisor, and as an officer faced with decisions regarding use of force myself, I wanted a more effective way to document, file, and mitigate risk. These on-the-job opportunities allowed me to not only see what works, but also what could be done better. It also became clear that process, training, and program management should really be explored, developed, and refined by the professionals with boots on the ground. Officer Kris Kringle is a 501 (c) nonprofit foundation dedicated to developing relationships between children in need and police officers through a Christmas gift-giving program.This program utilizes funds primarily donated by police officers to purchase gifts for children who are victims of violent crime, are homeless, or suffering from life-altering illnesses. Gifts are delivered to the door of each child by a police officer in uniform.As a former police officer and now as a successful business owner, I believe giving back to community is absolutely paramount. I truly find joy in helping children to view police officers as the helpers and supporters we are, especially when many of those children will rarely have a positive interaction with someone in uniform.
