I've always loved puzzles growing up. When I first sat down in a python lecture, it was apparent that is what programming is all about, albeit a little more complex. It drew me in because of its layered nature, many intricate pieces working together to do a task. Sometimes, what is intriguing is that you may or may not know another piece completely, but you still need it in your solution. You have to have a little faith that someone else's solution to your problem is the best you will get unless you are willing to get theoretical and solve it yourself.I looked into many languages, but a few stuck with me, particularly C. I know a fair few people who do not like the language, but for some reason, it made sense at the time. I liked the level of control you could have with certain programming languages, and C took the cake (assembly is too much even for me). I got the opportunity to express my interest in this language at Sierra Wireless, where I got my footing as a firmware engineer. I got the chance to dip my toe into many different areas, such as shell scripting, embedded Linux, Yocto and Bitbake, GPIO management, developing my own feature, and much more. There were long nights and extra hours, but I am all the better for it.
