Leading organising for Unite Hospitality across Britain and Ireland. Supporting our burgeoning Hospitality Combine of reps to develop long-term organising strategies which will drive-up pay and conditions across the lowest paid and most contractually insecure sector in the economy.

In my role as Unite Hospitality Organiser, I represent and support members in bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels & casinos across Scotland. Through the Fair Hospitality campaign we seek to provide hospitality workers with the legal knowledge, organising skills and collective confidence to challenge unscrupulous employment practices and eventually rebuild an industry-wide collective bargaining framework.Since it's inception in 2017, the Fair Hospitality campaign has brought the issues faced by hospitality workers to the forefront of public attention with national campaigns on sexual harassment, zero hour contracts and unpaid trial shifts. Following successful campaigns at G1 Group, Marriott Hotels, Premier Inn, Intercontinental Hotels Group and Compass Group our members have brought about progressive change in some of the biggest employers in the sector. Alongside this, we have seen young and migrant worker engagement in trade unions grow substantially with over 4000 workers in the service sector joining Unite in 4 years

In my capacity as Young Members representative on the Executive Council of Unite and Unite representative on the TUC Youth Executive, I represent the interests of young workers from across the trade union movement, having helped to co-ordinate campaigns against wage-age disparity, zero-hour contracts and youth un/underemployment. In 2014 in conjunction with my colleagues on the National Young Members Committee we established the Decent Work for All Campaign which seeks to unionise and give a voice to young precarious workers in the hospitality and services sector. Since it's inception, our campaigning has seen a net increase of 35,000 young members into Unite.

As a leading workplace representative for Unite the Union in Lloyds Banking Group, I represent colleagues from across the Finance & Legal sector in an individual basis in Grievance and Disciplinary hearings and appeals. I also represent colleagues on a collective basis, having been elected to lead negotiations for the entire telephone banking estate. On behalf of the 44,000-strong bargaining unit, I negotiate with Employee Relations and Human Resources management on estate-wide policy and conditions in order to achieve the best deal for our members.

As legal services coordinator my role was to manage the integration of Unite the union’s legal services with their partner solicitors Thompsons and Allan McDougall. In only 6 months I developed a coherent and adaptable strategy including new scripts and recording system which tailored legal services around the individual needs of the member whilst improving the referral rates to the relevant firms.By streamlining the Legal Phonebank, my strategy has brought about a 100% increase in the amount of members data being cleansed for Unite and a significant increase in legal letters being sent out to Unite member's thus improving education of legal services for Unite members.

Organiser for the Better than Zero campaign - Scotland's Movement Against Precarious Work. In my role as organiser I supported workers primarily in the hospitality and retail industries by facilitating workshops on employment rights, organising direct actions and campaigning alongside politicians to move employers. We have won campaigns against the G1 Group, Mooboo and Subway improving the wages and conditions of thousands or workers across the service sector.

To provide specialist technical advice and excellent customer service to our personal and commercial multi brand Internet Banking customersProvide specialist advice and support to customers who are having technical problems with our Internet Banking service; the most common examples of which range from trouble logging-on to the service and making online payments to access issues caused by their own PC or mobile device settings, which usually require a full browser reconfiguration. Provide advanced technical advice to branch colleagues and RMs who have been unable to find a fix for the customer. Provide extra support to Phone bank by servicing Lloyds Service Essentials in an efficient and effective manner, providing the highest level of customer service by aiming to meet the needs of our customers at the first point of contact. In resolving customers’ technical problems with our Internet Banking service, colleagues are expected to tailor their conversation to accommodate the individual customers’ different level of experience in using their computing or mobile device. This requires the ability to resolve customers’ difficulties with both our Digital portal and their own computer software.Provide technical support to customers who are experiencing difficulty navigating self-service product fulfillment through Internet Banking. I.e. guiding customers (and other colleagues) on how to apply for products and services as well as how to use financial efficiency tools such as Money Manager and Halifax Cash back Extra.
