About Bryan Sower

I am recently retired and considering continuing my career. Over my 33 years between Dow Corning and Dow I have experience and expertise in a wide variety of areas related to manufacturing and IT. In large part this focused on systems integration. As I look to continue my career post-retirement, I am interested in a position in which I can utilize my skills, expertise and experience to collaborate with others to define architectural strategies and deliver key solutions which provide a strong foundation and necessary agility for the company to achieve its goals in a safe and sustainable manner.Over the years the key focus of positions I have held was to look for opportunities to leverage existing solutions when appropriate, design and develop new ones, when necessary, while keeping an eye on the future for emerging technologies and trends.

In this role the focus was on architectural design of integration between business IT systems as well as manufacturing/operations IT. It Included working closely with key vendors to stay abreast of developing technologies and how they could be leveraged. It also included acting as a liaison between the enterprise and manufacturing architecture teams to ensure alignment between organizations of objectives. A common thread of all efforts was a strong emphasis on the adoption of an event driven architecture (EDA) by the organization to insure the right data was at the right place at the right time.

This role was largely involved with the transition of Dow Corning to Dow during the acquisition and merger and subsequent split of Dow and DuPont Most of this involved working through the smooth transitions of systems, networks and SAP migration. Additionally, this role included efforts to help Dow sites adopt Dow Corning solutions where capabilities previously did not exist and to work with leadership to raise awareness of the benefits of the approach Dow Corning had used in different areas so that solutions were not discarded. It was also in this role that there was a lot of effort with the manufacturing and enterprise architects defining Mfg. 4.0, setting standards to help identify key enabling technologies.
