Bryan Staley is a Software Engineer at SMX. Colleagues describe them as "Bryan worked as a senior software engineer on the Ground Data Production Software team at the Laboratory of Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), part of Colorado University, Boulder.
Bryan worked with the rest of the team on the ground data processing for the Total Irradiance Monitor (TIM) instruments. Two TIMs are in orbit (as of 2017), another is scheduled for launch in 2017. These important instruments are vital tools in the monitoring of Earth's climate.
Bryan wrote Java code, with significant and expert-level SQL database use. We had some ugly code to deal with, and Bryan helped us refactor and test it, incrementally. The entire team respected his routine commitment to quality in every line of code. When Bryan's code was reviewed, we all saw clear, well-documented, and well-tested work.
Bryan also did key development for the MMS and MAVEN missions in Python. Just as with his Java work, we quickly grew to rely on Bryan to make key changes and refactors, quickly, incrementally, and without fuss.
I would very much welcome working with Bryan on future software projects." and "Bryan is a patient hard worker that effectively balances the needs of his immediate group with those of the greater program and organization. He contributes to a relaxed atmosphere that provides careful, collective, and timely analysis and results for the range of problems he has encountered at IS&GS. Additionally, he has grown the infrastructure effectively for the programs he has been involved with during his time, which has provided a better collaborative framework for the IS&GS organization as a whole when he and I worked in different groups."
