As a store manager in training, I learned all aspects of operating a Jos. A. Bank store. My responsibilities included; implementing floor sets as directed by corporate, changing signage to reflect current sales and promotions, training and counseling employees both during and after their customer interactions, promoting add on items to grow store sales, attending Chamber of Commerce meetings to network with surrounding merchants and business people to create potential clients, and to brainstorm on ways to market our businesses. At the store sales level, I am responsible for meeting and exceeding a sales goal, and maintaining and using the clienteling system effectively. For the final quarter of 2013 I was ranked the number one selling associate in the southwest region for sales volume, which was my first quarter with the company. This is a feat never achieved by another associate in the history of Jos. A. Bank.

As the Store Manager, I oversee a team of five sales associates. I lead my team by example, by consistently being the number one volume sales producing associate in the store. In addition to leading by example, I hold regular store training sessions on new and existing product, partner with the store manager in setting goals for the team, council team members on building a client base and following up with each associate to ensure that their client book is maintained. Operationally, I ensure that an accurate inventory system is maintained, receive new product, run reports on employee and store performance, process payroll, and conduct or sit in on employee reviews. Additionally, I implement unique and exciting visual merchandising elements to the store, follow up on corporate sales leads, make cold calls and send out promotional materials to expand our corporate client base, and partner with mall management on new and innovative ways to market the store.

Responsible for meeting a daily expectation of merchandise sold, and working closely with management to determine an appropriate sales goal for the department and ensuring that the goal is met. My main priority was to work to build my personal business, by making sure that my personal customers stayed informed of sales, and new items that may have been of interest to them. I also stocked new inventory and maintained a section of the stockroom, all while working with the total store team to deliver the level of customer service that Nordstrom is known for.

Accountable for overseeing the operation, ensuring profitability, and guaranteeing the success of my Palm Beach Tan location. Among my responsibilities were training my staff on product sales, setting sales goals, rapport building with clients to sell new memberships, packages and retail products, implementing cross marketing campaigns with local businesses, and maintaining a spotless facility. Honors that I received include: being the first Las Vegas store to score 100% on the monthly audit, scoring 100% on my mystery shops two months in a row, and personally finishing the month in first place for the Las Vegas market five months of 2009 for product sales and new membership sales.

Duties include inventory management and control of pieces ranging up to $190,000, buying new product to maximize sales and profit, processing employee payroll and commission, receiving new merchandise and inputting new inventory, overseeing all outbound shipping, maintaining spreadsheets on company data, processing bank deposits, management of office and shipping expenses and ordering of supplies, along with training new employees and overseeing ongoing sales training of existing associates.

I started with the J.C. Penney Co. in high school, and worked my way through the customer service dept. and out on the sales floor to sell Men's Suits, became a selling All Star, and was promoted to Department Manager of the Family Shoe Dept. As Department Manager I drove sales by continuing to personally interact with customers, train Sales Associates on proper sales techniques and closing skills, kept my department set to the merchandising guidelines set forth by corporate by partnering with the visual and the pricing teams, received and stocked new merchandise, conducted employee reviews, and partnered with the other managers in the operation of the store.
