Specialties: Advocate for agriculture and the environment in legislative and regulatory arenas. *Grew Georgia Agribusiness Council (GAC) membership by 56% between 2011 - 2018, reaching a record high 1,130-member companies by September 2018.*GAC’s financial reserves grew over 310%, from $157,000 in 2010 to $647,000 in 2018.*Total assets grew 278% over the same period, exceeding $1 million for the first time in GAC’s 52 year history. *Developed the Georgia AgPAC to solicit funds for distribution to candidates and elected officials that support agricultural and rural initiatives.*Created the GAC Foundation 501(c)3 organization to maintain and grow agricultural education scholarships and programs.*Represented the Council on regulatory and legislative matters. This includes serving as the association lobbyist during each session of the Georgia General Assembly on all matters of agribusiness interest, including water and other natural resources, taxes, insurance, immigration reform, agricultural education, state budget allocations, and transportation.*Accomplishments include millions of dollars in benefits to the industry through state pre-emption on fertilizer, biotech seed, and outdoor water use; protecting and enhancing sales tax exemptions for agricultural inputs; reducing property taxes for agriculture/forestry, as well as shaping property rights and critical measures in statewide water planning.*Provided written and verbal testimony during legislative committee hearings, Board of Natural Resources meetings and regulatory hearings conducted by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Georgia Department of Insurance. Also led issues and group meetings with Georgia’s Congressional delegation in Washington, DC.
