Founded in 2013, The Crayon Initiative (TCI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which organizes the collection of used and unwanted crayons from restaurants, schools, and the community. TCI then remanufactures them into new ergonomically shaped crayons and donate them to hospitals caring for our kids. Hospital arts’ programs provide in-hospital entertainment and learning programs in order to help hospitalized children. Art provides psychological support, helps to alleviate anxiety and allows a creative outlet for self-expression. TCI also supports environmental efforts by diverting these unwanted crayons from the landfills.

Formats include: corrugate, labels steel/aluminum cans and ends.Responsible for all applications where thermoformed plastic tubs/trays and foil lid packaging was used. Oversaw and knowledgeable in required filling and sealing equipment, raw material selection and their properties, tool and die design for manufacturing raw packaging materials, as well as filling/sealing equipment, incoming QA measuring techniques and seal integrity.

Responsible for procuring displays, special packs, pouches, labels, cans, and ends. Lowered display spend by approximately 25% by acting as liaison between vendors, sales, franchise and R&D. Using past design experience, offered cost saving measures during the design phase of projects. Other projects included the investigation of new materials and global sources for can ends.
