About Bryan Whelan
A core aspect of my education and employment history has been the ability to excelwith regards to managing multiple projects and working with staff and external partners to deliverthe successful realisation of numerous projects. Due to the nature of my role, this necessitates beingcomfortable working as part of a team, or individually as required. I have a particular interest in the nature and role of information literacy in libraries today, and how users interact with their library (and how a library reaches out to its users). Examples of how my interests have led to demonstrable change within my current role include the development of the Library’s first comprehensive Style-Guide with regards to referencing and writing, as well as developing classes on instruction for new students and personal one-to-one sessions. Further to this, I have also advocated for the expansion of the Library’s social media presence in developing, managing and maintaining its Twitter account. I have also gained considerable experience in working with final-year students in developing and editing a selected thesis for publication as part of Church of Ireland Publishing’s Braemor Study Series. My success in this role has been acknowledged by it being formalised as Chief Publications Officer for Church of Ireland Publishing.I am active on social media and have a strong interest in new developments in librarianship in general and academic libraries in particular. I am a member of the Library Association of Ireland and regularly attend conferences to develop my knowledge of existing trends in libraries and information literacy.
Listed skills include Cataloging, Library, Books, Research, and 15 others.
