The Principal Advisor Climate Change & Energy Efficiency is responsible for transitioning Newmont to a carbon constrained economy. A number of key achievements include:• Successfully developed the Climate Change and Energy Efficiency function from the ground up.• Successfully coordinated the development of a Water Strategy framework for the APAC Region that provided a framework for the Corporate Strategy.• Successfully managing Newmont's annual carbon liability ($40M).• Developed a regional Climate Change Strategy that provided a framework for the Corporate Strategy. • Successfully lead a multi-disciplined team including operations, legal, supply chain, communications, business and tech services.• Established the first carbon offset project for the Australian Gold Industry which successfully generated the first carbon credits in Australia under the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI). • Successfully maintained compliance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act (NGER), Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act (EEO), Clean Energy Act, and the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI). • Proactively managed Newmont’s energy efficiency programme resulting in $4M of annual energy savings at Newmont’s Jundee mine.

The Regional Environmental Manager is responsible for environmental management across four mine sites (Boddington, Tanami, Jundee and Waihii (NZ)) in the Asia Pacific Region and the regional Subiaco office. A number of key achievements include:• Successfully managed the environmental risk across four gold mine operations across the APAC region.• Improved the legal compliance programme across the region and significantly reduced compliance issues within 12 months.• Successfully drove the Cyanide Code implementation project which later resulted in Newmont attaining International Cyanide Code certification for all operations and achieved significant cost savings at 3 operations through more efficient cyanide usage.• Contributor to the Cyanide Management Leading Practice Sustainable Develop book, Department of Resources Energy and Tourism 2008.

The Mine Closure Co-ordinator is responsible for managing the mine closure liability of the Tanami region ($50M), including the development of strategic mine closure plans for the Granites, Dead Bullock Soak, Tanami Mine Joint Venture leases, Groundrush and Minotaur leases. A number of key achievements include:• Successfully developed comprehensive mine closure plans for Newmont Tanami Operations and the Groundrush mine in accordance with regulatory guidelines.• Successfully project managed multiple consultants, technicians and internal stakeholders to develop the mine closure plans.• Project managed numerous technical investigations including material characterisation and landform stability on time and within budget.
