Led continuous 24/7 operations of a state-of -the-art Aluminum recycling plant with 20+ salaried staff and 170+ union hourly employees in process of post and pre-consumer aluminum scrap. Accountable for Safety, Environmental, and Operational objectives with production of 350M pounds of coil a year. Transitioned to corporate roll in 2016 with the objective to improve metal usage throughout NA mills and improve efficiencies between operations and purchasing. Enterprise Impact:• In June of 2012, was asked to move back into this role to help the Company move forward from a very hard fought strike,• Changed Plant Management Organization to focus on TPM, Lean Philosophies and improved reliability. • Created Lean Visual Boards at each of the operations and reorganized the salary workforce to focus more on process improvement and standard work.• Successfully completed EPA required Secondary MACT testing.

Direct procurement's of over $500M in raw materials, utility contracts, operational supplies, and capital equipment. Analyze key market indicators and divisional financial data to develop annual & 5-yr Strategic Plans for raw material cost, natural gas pricing and net spreads. Negotiate multi-year & multi-plant contracts for operational supplies and services. Negotiate price, payment structure and delivery penalties on over $10M of Capital Equipment purchases annually. Manage Metal Book by matching Daily Sales to Inventory Purchases and correcting position through purchasing/selling Aluminum on London Metal Exchange. Contacts to ensure net spread and profitability. Lead a staff of two Scrap Buyers and three MRO Buyers for four Nichols Aluminum Plants in three states.Enterprise Impact:• Improved raw material spread by 3% annually by teaming with Raw Material Operations to improve processing & recovery of scrap using different grades of scrap. • Saved $50k annually by Negotiating centralized vendor contract for water treatment at all four plants. • Designed scrap procurement process (Winter Scrap Build) to allow firm priced purchasing of scrap and covered with a forward London Metal Exchange Contract when no physical sale existed, improving Casting Plant efficiency.

Lead Raw Material Operations (Receiving, Shredding, Blending, Rotary Barrels, & Melting Departments) for Casting plant with Annual Production of 300+ million pounds. Responsible for compliance with all company, government, and safety regulations. Reduced Molten Metal burns by 90% by focusing on proper protective equipment and emphasized focus on job tasks. Direct responsibility for setting and controlling annual operational budgets of over $20M. Used Lean Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints to improve operation’s reliability by focusing on processes and eliminating waste. Directed six salaried and one hundred and twenty union employees.Enterprise Impact:• Passed two EPA Compliance Tests in five years by establishing procedures and testing to ensure plant was Secondary MACT Standard compliant. • Implemented capital project by replacing two natural gas engines with more efficient electric motors resulting in a 20% reduction in Shredding Utility Cost.

Published financial statements monthly and prepared Quarterly & Annual Reports for Corporate Office. Conducted Annual Internal and External Financial Audits resulting in no audit comments. Forecast Plant costs, analyzed discrepancies, and collaborated with Plant Manager on cost reduction/operational improvement initiatives. Tracked plant capital projects and completed post-completion audits on projects to ensure achievement of planned savings.
