Green Hopper is a green autotech company focused on connecting the future of auto tech services to automobility experiences in Africa. Our mission is to develop a first-of-its-kind continent-wide automotive ecosystem that allows vehicle owners to access excellent auto services more easily using interactive technology platforms. This led to the creation of our hybrid business model; FITA Autotech and FITA ESG. Our flagship product, the FITA Autotech app uses mobile technology, machine learning and subscription models to provide vehicle owners and users with a budget-friendly, vetted, and connected ecosystem of auto-related services; while enabling them to access greener and more sustainable forms of mobility. The ecosystem includes warranty-proof mechanic services, part procurement, credit plans, vehicle rental, complimentary roadside assistance, and EV Support all tied into a user’s subscription.Our Impact Model FITA ESG will be dedicated to transitioning African countries to more sustainable and better-managed mobility experiences, upskilling mechanics and value chain service providers via technical partnerships with fully-funded automotive programs that include quotas for women technicians, and the pioneering of near-zero waste workshops. Amidst Africa’s many developing continent problems there has been the emergence of a new wave of entrepreneurs committed to being catalysts of economical and societal progress. However, these new generation entrepreneurs and investors face a variety of problems that hinder their progress such as lack of knowledge, network and trust.Impact Hub Accra saw these concerns as an opportunity and initiated Deep Dive Africa (DDA) which made its successful debut in 2019. The purpose of DDA was to explore the potential impact of a carefully curated investor-startup engagement with the main focus of driving investor interest from Europe and preparing startups to receive capital. In six months after DDA 2019, it was clear the initiative had helped raise 500,000 Euros for startups in Nigeria and Ghana. As a result of this, Impact Hub Accra is has launched the second edition of DDA with a more expansive set of activities, covering more African countries, with a longer timeline to achieve an even bigger impact.Due to the effects of the COVID-19 global pandemic, there will be a reinvention of the execution of DDA 2021 which will deliver the program in a hybrid format.DDA 2021 will be delivered by various local Impact Hubs and associated partners within cities with startup economies in East and West Africa. The Innovation Lab Development and Design Consultant is a role positioned to engage an experienced design thinking, entrepreneurship and innovation professional to lead the development of A.D.U.’s Ilimi Innovation Lab (iiLab) and curriculum. This includes developing the programmatic strategy, learning outcomes, evaluation criteria and measures, training of iiLab staff in Niamey, Niger.The Ilimi Innovation Lab (iiLAB) is A.D.U.’s innovation and entrepreneurship center which is committed to empowering the next generation of business leaders and young leaders by connecting them with tools, resources, networks, support and funding to catalyze change, amplify their impact, as well as scale their innovative and entrepreneurial projects.

Design thinking is based on ethnography and primarily uses abductive logic in research (probing unique insights as compared to deductive logic or inductive logic) for solving problems. Since the goal of design thinking is to generate new ideas and new markets, design thinking encourages the use of generative methods for conducting research: depth interviews, observational shadowing, the diary method, controlled experiments, analogical reasoning. These methods aim to uncover the ‘whys’ and the ‘hows’ of user behavior in order to get a better understanding of problems. The reasoning is that to develop new products or provide new meaning for existing products, innovators need to first uncover deep understanding of customers in order to provide benefits that go beyond functionality to meet customers at their point of aspiration. Small and large companies and organizations are adopting the approach for new product/business development as well as for strategy. For instance, IBM announced in 2015 a strategic shift to using design thinking for strategy development across all aspects of operations. They intended to hire 2000 designers in a few years. To prepare talent for this transition, design thinking is now taught as a stand-alone problem-solving course globally in a variety of leading schools like Stanford University, University of Virginia, Harvard University, MIT, Northeastern University, Delft University, University of Cape Town and in Ghana, Ashesi University. MEST Express is an acceleration program focused on providing investment-readiness support to early and growth-stage startups in Ghana. It is designed to deliver hands-on business interventions that are focused on rapid practical application and observable business outcomes. The program works with founders to ensure their businesses are poised for growth and increased impact.After 20 weeks of hands-on expert-led workshops and mentorship, startups in each cohort have the opportunity to participate in a pitching session where top-performing ventures receive equity-free grant funding.As a Design Thinking Subject Matter Expert & Mentor, responsibilities covered included:• Facilitating workshops on using Design Thinking to understand users and generate consumer insights that can inform product advancement, promote customer acquisition while improving the rate of customer retention• Providing mentorship and coaching to advanced startups in the MEST Express Beta Cohort supporting data room development for investor readiness, partnership pipeline creation, business strategy and branding

Wikimedia Ghana User Group(wmgh) is an affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation, the parent organization of Wikipedia.Our mission is to promote Wikipedia and its sister wikis in Ghana and for 7 years, we have been recruiting, training, and engaging Wikipedians.At wmgh, I work as a Program Manager for the Increasing Participation Department focused on the buildout of Nimble.Nimble is being developed as a digital tool that will provide an abbreviated step-by-step guide to editing Wikipedia as an instructor would give during a workshop. It will also be customized to suit our Ghanaian community, with its biggest offering being the ability to tailor the platform for editors per their region as well as others in the future that may be interested in utilizing the platform. Nimble is also built to support offline capabilities that would be provided through the app to enable new editors in localities with poor internet services to practice editing.
