MealDrop is an online food marketplace that connects hungry customers with their favorite local restaurants. We help clients such as Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and AtTask to save time and money through our intuitive ordering platform.

I was in charge of marketing the Venture Factory arm of Engineering and Technology Startup (http://www.etstartup.org/venture-factory-2) and more importantly, I was solely responsible for finding and recruiting new innovation teams to come present their engineering and tech-related product ideas and prototypes in our Weekly Venture Factory Pitch. I assisted the teams in conducting and compiling market research and developing some early business model concepts to help them prepare to present to our investment board. I also spearheaded the marketing for the very first Student Innovator of the Year competition (2010) for BYU.

Given that I was the first employee, I was VP of whatever that week most demanded. I engaged in B2B sales, customer research, product development, competitive research, marketing, ...you name it. The founders really gave me a chance to be part of everything that went on. The company has grown tremendously and I continue to do oddjobs for them occasionally to help continue to grow the business.

I was part of a 2-person team leading a 2-year project (two summers) to find and interview 200 small business owners in rural Guatemala. While I was fluent in Spanish before heading down, I found an interesting twist as more than half the people we interacted with spoke any of the 26 Mayan tribal dialects, which made interviewing an interesting task. Planning our hostal-jumping trip was an incredible experience. We compiled and helped analyze the data from two summers of experience. The data is part of an ongoing project to study the impact of Micro-Franchising on small business opportunities in third world countries.
