I work closely with inventors to identify subject matter for patenting and to help companies improve their overall patent portfolios. In particular, I have helped clients with onboarding acquisitions to help manage an existing portfolio and to develop a new portfolio directed to the future of the industry. My experience also includes patent mining to work with inventors to identify subject matter for patenting, prior art searches, and opinion work, such as, clearance searches.

Prepared post “ALJ Rogers Denies Motion For Summary Determination In Certain Printing And Imaging Devices (337-TA-690)” for the ITC 337 Law Blog (www.itcblog.com), June 29th, 2010. Presented analysis to the Prosecution Department regarding whether the USPTO’s proposal in 75 FR 31763 is in compliance with international treaties, including TRIPS, GATT, and the Paris Convention. Drafted responses to Office Actions and client letters. Analyzed validity of a patent and prepared a claim interpretation chart. Prepared objective memoranda to support litigation.

Participated in rulemaking for the energy efficiency program for consumer electronics. Specifically, standards on water heaters, pool heaters, direct heating, refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers. Also, involved in enforcement of DOE rules.

Worked with a Director of the 2600 Art Unit Mark Powell regarding the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH). Examined patents in the 2613 Art Unit under Ken Vanderpuye. Received two weeks of intense training regarding Patent Examination.

Worked as a full-time electrical engineer in the Electrical Analytical Group. The group supports the electrical systems at fossil, nuclear, and renewable power plants.
