Crane Merchandising Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Crane Company (NYSE:CR), is the world’s 2nd largest designer and manufacturer of vending machinesHired to develop, commercialize and launch a new product segment for Crane: cashless payments & wireless monitoring for vending machines that enabled wireless monitoring of machines and cashless payments by consumers to increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and meet changing consumer demands. Charged with defining the strategy for revitalizing the merchandising channel with the overall goal of increasing vending machine sales. Notable contributions:• Developed the strategic vision and tactical direction for a new product, which led to significant business growth. Communicated the vision to the Board of Directors and was given support to implement cutting edge technology in the vending machine/merchandising channel. • Launched and commercialized Streamware Connect vending telemetry and cashless business, which grew to become the market leader in its channel, and a significant revenue stream with strong year-over-year growth (exact numbers are proprietary).• Conceived & Developed preliminary business model for digital product advertising on vending machines. Secured funding and cooperation for a 1-year multi-market consumer research study from Mondelez (formerly Kraft Foods).

Isochron was a start up company (founded in 1997) that was acquired by Crane Merchandising Systems in 2008. Isochron developed machine-to-machine (M2M) software solutions for the vending industry. It offered software and hardware devices for delivery & shelf space allocation optimization, route operations and improved customer interaction with credit card payments & digital signage. In collaboration with a private investor (a former Board Member), purchased Isochron’s assets. Developed business and product strategies and served as the company’s leader and grew the company from 7 to 23 employees. Developed a touch screen display for vending machines to show consumers videos at POS. Sold the company to Crane Merchandising in 2008.Notable contributions:• Grew the company from $150K to $3M in annual revenue while leading new technology commercialization. • Commercialized VendCast telemetry hardware and online route management software (vending management solution for vending operators), a 100% browser-based SaaS product. • Secured a $3.5M contract with the largest North American soft drink bottler & distributor. • Invented or co-invented 8 patents in vending-focused consumer engagement.

Hired into a technical group within the parent company that provided technical, engineering & project management support to Coca-Cola bottlers and served as a technical liaison to those bottlers. Provided project management and technical expertise to Coca-Cola bottlers. Notable contributions:• Evaluated the potential impact of wireless, remote monitoring of vending machines and delivery optimization to reduce operational costs for the largest Coca-Coca bottler (Coca-Cola Enterprises) in North America. • Identified a startup company, Isochron, which used wireless technology to become more efficient in their use of drivers and to increase fill rate on vending machines. Acquired Isochron’s first hardware and installed it in several machines at the University of South Florida as a delivery optimization pilot program.

Managed product and capital budgets ranging up to $22M to design, build, commission, and start up seven high-speed bottling production lines in the U.S. and one in Europe. Supported brand teams by increasing the efficiency of manufacturing systems while reducing costs. Assigned to the Sunny Delight product, a newly acquired product, that was rapidly increasing in sales but lacked the manufacturing capacity in the US and required rapid build of production lines to meet customer demand.Notable contributions:• Invented and introduced a high-speed conveying system for small lightweight plastic bottles that enabled P&G to increase its product line speeds from 300 bottles per minute to 1,000 bottles per minute.• Collaborated with a vendor to develop an innovative new way to use film wrap to package multiple bottles without need for a cardboard tray, which resulted in significant cost savings.
