One thing I love about NextCentury is their willingness to try new things and experiment with ideas. We discovered that as our team grew we would need to change our team dynamics.While I started as a Sr. Software engineer, I was asked to lead the software team. I did this for four months. At this time, NextCentury decided to combine the software team with the rest of the engineering teams (hardware and testing) and trusted me to lead it. While I did this for 8 months, we learned that a single individual managing a large number of people (15 people) presents its own challenges. This realization led us to have me lead a smaller software team with a focus on mentoring our new newer employees. During my time in that capacity, I was able to help two employees get promoted within the company, spearhead an effort to enable our support team to handle more complex problems, and lead out in project management.
