My current role as Technologist for Configuration Services involves the analysis, architecture and implementation of technologies related to custom systems for Dell Customers. This role is primarily related to enterprise systems, however it sometimes overlaps into client and mobile solutions as well.The overall theme my tasks is to provide new technologies to automate the delivery of customer specific systems that are delivered in a 'ready to run' state. This may include hardware, firmware, or software specific customizations and support services such as Asset tagging or reporting. I am currently working to refine internal development practices and explore the ability to provide customer specified configurations across client, enterprise, networking and storage platforms. Client systems include desktop, laptop and tablet devices. Enterprise not only includes server hardware, but rack integration, cloud services and integration with existing infrastructure.My role is an advanced engineering role with an emphasis on defining new capabilities, building Proof of Concept systems, and helping establish buy, build, or acquire strategies for those capabilities.I am a strong believer in modular design enabled by abstraction methodologies to provide greater return on investment on development efforts. By simplifying the inputs into the customization configurations we are able to support a broader range of devices.
