I was recruited as a Sr. Area Sales Manager for the Nebraska Territory. Within a month, Iowa was under my belt too! These two territories were under-serviced and I took it upon myself to change the focus of Owens Corning from Distribution to Contractors. After conducting multiple meetings, I discovered that there was a common lack of knowledge about the products roofers were installing. I took multiple trips to Toledo, OH, where I was trained on Warranties and Destructive Testing of shingles. All test were conducted in the LAB (controlled environment). With a better understanding of the Tests that determined is a shingle was/wasn't damaged, I spent multiple sessions with the Warranty Department, Get Tech, and Install Leads and received phenomenal training in Toledo, OH and the plants in Dallas, TX, and Denver, CO. With all the knowledge of the backend, I was able to train Roofers how to install the best systems and differentiate themselves from their competition. This knowledge reduce the number of warranty claims and install claims in my territory. We also had a significant drop in defect claims as I was able to teach my Roofers what was/wasn't weather related damage. In a very short period of time, we were able to double our sales and triple our Market Share in Nebraska. Knowledge is everything!
