Managing the Telefonica microwave rollout in the UK

TowerPros Ltd is a New cutting edge firm responsible for developing and maintaining a high-performance wireless infrastructure backed by a world class support team. TowerPros is responsible for monitoring and supporting wireless network assets comprising of a network operations centere (NOC) which provides 24-hour monitoring of the assets and a team of field engineers (FEs) who are responsible for on-site maintenance and tower works.

Implementation and maintenance of a bespoke private radio network.

MBNL swaps on exisisting Nokia,NEC ,PCOM,DMC Statex andNera radio systems for both SIAE ALC & Ericsson TN.

Responsible for the day to day field management of a national swap out project in Poland covering Krakow, Warsaw and Katowice.The project is to initially Hot Swap 187 radio links ranging from 4 x STM1 to 4 E1 PDH in the Krakow district before moving to Warsaw, the system being used is the Flexihybrid HC which is a newly developed adaptive modulation product from NSN based on the proven SRA 4 platform.I am directly responsible for the management of the sub contractors on a daily event from programming to implementation.Other responsibilities include product training and rigging supervision whilst installing dishes ranging from 0.2Mtrs to 2.4Mtrs, these are all installed in a very constricted environment due to the aesthetics' of the surrounding area of Old Krakow where the need to maintain a low key installation is paramount.

Operationally responsible for the day to day installations carried out in the field, joined the project late to raise the quality standard of installations and the technical expertise of the subcontractors being used.Training delivery of NEC Passolink v3 Radio equipment in various guises including Space Diversity in a challenging environment, including the North of Scotland Western and Orkney isles when deploying the TETRA network used by the Emergency Services etc. Implementation of various milestone markers that have to be in place before each ring goes to the next stage.Assisting in the writing of specifications and carrying out pre and post installation audits that allow trend analysis information to be collated are just a few of the tasks undertaken by myself..Overall control of the subcontractors in the field and managing their resource levels allowing the project to achieve the best results.Carry out tests over every ring after completion to ensure the correct timeslots are available before ring is subjected to a soak test period where the results are collated then analysed before I personally cut traffic onto every ring on acceptance cutover from the switch to the customer and supervise the subcontractors carrying out the switchover on site under strictly controlled outages.

Responsible for the installation, integration and interoperability of SDH / PDH radio links by third party service companies into new and existing GSM/UMTS sites on the Vodafone ATP project, this entails supervising the service companies during all stages of the installations including Pre Installation site surveys, fibre or coaxial circuits according to the circuit provision provided by the customer, DCN connectivity plan, circuit switching and Ethernet management circuits connected to the network and visibility on Netviewer (Network Management Tool). Sign off new transmissions installations and undertaking stability tests before signing Link acceptance to subcontractor.Other aspects of the position require communicating with the site acquisition and build agents regarding structural and steel placements allocated for various Antennas’ ranging from 20cm to 240cm.

Responsible for raising the overall level of Field Staff capabilities and competence through on-site training and development on Microwave systems across the TMUK, Vodafone, '3' and OPCS networks.Management and implementation of first and second line installation support. Providing technical expertise in and out of the field to support and enhance the Microwave project team.VodafoneAt RFQ phase I was involved with the Siemens bid on the Vodafone ATP project. Liasing at a technical level as part of the bid team I assisted Siemens in identifying installation solutions for the UK market. This included creation of installation procedures, naming conventions, data management, environmental logistics and equipment specifications.I was invited to Siemens in Milan as part of a systems level training course over a two-week period covering Siemens Xral radio systems and oversaw the filed installation crews on the ATP project. I also managed assistance to Siemens O&M with a quick response service for failed links that are priority 1, these links are normally carrying traffic and range between PDH & SDH.'3'Involved with the H3G project from the installation of test rings in Maidenhead, Bradford and Manchester area. Liaising with both Nokia and '3' regarding specification requirements, installation requirements, procedural documentation, quality and process control.Extensive knowledge and experience of Nokia Flexi hopper equipment and installations. Responsible for documentation all completed work back to the Nokia Microwave Project Manager, ensuring all equipment is present prior to the installation commencing and advising the Project Manager of any problems encountered on site or with equipment etc.TMUKOriginally involved in the installation and commissioning of Pcom, SIAE, DMC and Ericsson Microwave radio links for Mercury One2One. I was promoted to Project Leader for the T-Mobile network.
