Through my varied employment roles at LAUSD, I have developed a passion for working with children in the K-12 setting. Through a psychological/ therapeutic lens, I have observed the need students have to be able to speak out to someone about social and emotional struggles as well as academics. I have had the opportunity to intern and work in low-income areas with mostly marginalized populations. Through these experiences, it has become evident that students and their families are often unaware of the resources available to support and help them thrive in all aspects of their lives. My goal as a school counselor is to destigmatize mental health, advocate for students by removing the systemic barriers impeding them from flourishing, motivate students to reach for the stars, guide them on their journey of education, and collaborate often with parents to support and guide our students with the ultimate goal of seeing them prosper.
