Living in Cape Cod, I am regularly reminded of the important role that lighthouses have played in providing guidance to mariners. If they could speak, these lighthouses would share the perspectives they have gained from decades of helping ships navigate the coastline, prepare for changing conditions, avoid collisions, have well-trained, committed crews and embark on great adventures and commerce. A good Director or Advisor shares many of the same attributes. The ability to help an Entrepreneur/CEO navigate new customers and markets; identify competitive threats and the innovations that will minimize their impact; identify and manage risks and help build high-performance teams and the financial strength and operations models that are needed for sustainable success on the great adventure of entrepreneurship.Throughout my thirty-eight (38) year career with EY, I focused on advising, guiding and recognizing innovation-driven high-growth entrepreneurs in the US and internationally. I am continuing to leverage my network connections, knowledge and experience in Board of Director or Board of Advisor roles where I can help support the trajectory of portfolio companies with my knowledge of growth strategies, accessing capital, international expansion, strategic transactions and alliances and entrepreneurial community building.I recently co-authored the book “Daring to compete”, which was published by Wiley. It features some of the insights that I have gained from interactions with many award-winning entrepreneurs throughout my career, including the 15 that we interviewed for the book. The book identifies 8 traits of successful entrepreneurs; details how they apply 7 Drivers of Growth to accelerate their business growth and outlines the importance of intuition in entrepreneurial decision making. I am further leveraging the insights and experiences captured in “Daring to compete” through speaking to entrepreneurial CEO audiences.

I serve on the Advisory Board for The Nexxus Group – the world’s leading Scan Based Trading resource. This company concluded a successful sale transaction in May 2024.

I served as an Advisor to the President & Founder of Nested Bean - a high growth company that helps babies sleep and families thrive, by creating smart, safe, intuitive sleep wellness products.

I retired from my 38 year career with EY as Global Leader – Entrepreneurship, overseeing EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, the world’s most prestigious business awards program for entrepreneurs. For more than 30 years, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year has celebrated those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses, recognizing them through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 145 cities in more than 50 countries. This program culminates each June with the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Forum and Award gala in Monaco.
