Created a service-oriented group of accountants who reduced administrative burdens at operating locations, resulting in a 25% reduction of administrative head count at the campgrounds and compressed financial reporting cycles. Drove consensus-building efforts with management team that led to higher standardized pricing on membership products, steady increases in average dues, and changes to membership agreements that reduced the company's exposure to volatile energy prices.Thousand Trails was a public company trading on the American Stock Exchange prior to its sale to private equity interests in 2003. Market cap of the stock was about $5 million when I joined the company in 1994; we sold the company for $113 million in 2003. Hogan had a manufacturing and assembly operation in Fort Worth, TX, where it produced golf clubs and golf balls. It offered a complete line of golf products and accessories (clubs, balls, golf gloves, bags, and sportswear) to golf course pro shops and golf specialty stores, sourcing many of the products it did not manufacture from overseas. I joined Hogan after it had been acquired by a Japan-based group to manage tax compliance and planning for that group's US interests, which eventually included the famed Pebble Beach golf course. Later, I was manager of cost accounting and the IT director, and led the team that installed the company's first manufacturing shop floor system. When Hogan was later sold to a group based in Richmond, VA, I planned and executed key portions of the move from Texas to Virginia, including interviewing and hiring the non-manufacturing staff, including accounting, HR, IT, and customer service representatives.
