Responsible for the assemblage of highly accurate geospatial data depicting the location of track and signal feature locations on the Norfolk Southern rail network.Produces subdivision files that are required for the successful deployment of Positive Train Control (PTC).Manages and implements Unified Train Control System (UTCS) database (TDMS) changes.Ensures all quality control measures are being met and coordinating these changes with business partners to a production environment.Posses a broad geographic understanding of the rail operations, Train Dispatcher operations, and the ability to correctly interpret information received from the business partners.Performs and is responsible for the creation, modification, and quality control of essential geospatial infrastructure data for system-wide use on a variety of critical applications, including the analysis and assembly of geospatial data utilized to create PTC compliant Subdivision Files.Utilizes practical railroad knowledge to ensure field generated spatial data from various sources is properly converted into digital form compliant with established standards.Utilizes a variety of IT/GIS software tools to create data sets and modifications in accordance with Norfolk Southern (NS) PTC subdivision standards and Change Management processes.Use IT Dispatch applications to solve problems and seek ways to streamline workflows in an effort to maximize NS process efficiency by working with business partners and vendors to build relevant and user-accessible applications.

Ensure compliance with all railroad rules, procedures, and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)Direct and coordinate railroad traffic, issue permits and authorities, monitor all rail movements and maintain computerized records of all activitiesKnow assigned territory and keep informed of changes in the physical characteristicsMaintain familiarity with scheduled trains, destinations, times of arrivals and departuresCommunicate with personnel on weather or any environmental conditions affecting train movementCoordinate movement of trains according to operating plan and customer needsMonitor train and track movementsRemotely control track switches and traffic signals and apply and remove blocking devicesReport alleged violations of operating rules and any irregularity relating to the movement of trains.Plan in advance for smooth and effective movement of priority trains, trains containing hazardous material or restricted shipments, and meets/passes to avoid unnecessary delays.Coordinate track usage with Engineering Department personnel.
