LEAD MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER, James Webb Space Telescope ISIM Electronics Compartment (IEC)Designed, fabricated, and assembled 90% of a critical subsystem for the James Webb Space Telescope. The IEC operates at ambient temperatures while in close proximity to instruments running at cryogenic temperatures. Worked with a multidisciplinary team of electrical, thermal and structural engineers to successfully come up with a solution to preventing the IEC from leaching heat to the instruments.Developed multiple ground support equipment that allowed the team to assemble and test the IEC with ease. Served as the IEC subject matter expert and presented the designs at several major project milestones. Met all major milestones on time and on budget. LEAD MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER, James Webb Space Telescope Cryo Cooler LinesLed a team through the entire design phase, from concept to flight worthy designs, to develop a support system for the Cryo Cooler Lines that ensures survivability under both launch and cryogenic conditions.Explored several options to meet the unique requirements of the customer.MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER, Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Satellite Launch Restraint Mechanisms (LRM)Used Pro/E to model and simulate the deployment of the Solar Array Deployment System (SADDS) to identify potential points of failure. Designed creative solutions that reduced the risk of a single point failure of the LRM to zero.Developed a system that not only reduced the wear on the system by 50% but reduced the risk of damaging the Solar Cells by 57%.Responsible for the test fixture design, fabrication, test plans, and work orders to qualify all flight LRMs.Served as the subject matter expert on the LRMs.Assisted lead engineer with the assembly and integration of SADDS.
