Hired to improve architecture of enterprise application for online advertising industry. Rearchitected public facing part of application as part of a major upgrade. Introduced test driven development to system. All development done in C#/ASP.NET 2.0 with an SQL Server 2005 backend. Redesigned data layer to use data mapper and façade patterns along with a loosely coupled database provider to aid in testing. Rebuilt rules and business process engine to use more object oriented approach. Also worked on increasing performance of application which was deployed in web farm environment with high performance and uptime requirements. Assisted in some network rearchitecture to meet performance, security and uptime goals. Travelled to Chile as part of an international exchange program and worked with TUXPAN’s research and development division evaluating the use of test driven design with their in-house J2EE CASE tool. They are one of the larger software consulting/outsourcing firms in Chile and use a tool called Z4 to generate much of the code for their systems based on UML models and an object relational mapping framework. I evaluated some extensions they built for doing test driven development partially using JUnit and partially using a JavaScript gui testing engine they developed. I reported my findings as I built an internal use application using test driven development and their framework. Also performed Spanish to English translation of use cases and other technical documents for some of their projects.

Success of Orchid software at Morris Meetings & Incentives led to the formation of a new division to take software product outside of the company. Served as software architect for this new division and the continued development of the product using C#, Microsoft .NET, SQL Server 2000 and related technologies. Supervised team of programmers in technical issues. Reviewed code and design approaches of team members. Developed UML diagrams to explain system architecture. Led team in doing test driven development including creating new techniques to test web services based applications. Also continued maintenance of current systems including feature enhancements in C# and VB.NET including the development of a new WYSIWYG badge/ticket designer and printing engine. Hired to develop what would become Orchid, a system for managing incentive travel and convention registration. Initial version was developed using Visual Basic 6.0 and SQL Server 2000 with ASP 3.0 web sites. Later rewrote system in Visual Basic.NET on a very tight time frame to provide full support for Unicode characters and East Asian character sets. Created a system for creating multilingual customized websites very quickly which interface with core system. Lead team of developers in meeting difficult time lines. All development in Microsoft.NET was done using test driven development principles and NUnit. Developed numerous techniques to enable test driven development to function effectively in project. Also handled network administration and DBA tasks on Windows 2000 based network including management of Cisco networking devices. Was responsible for hiring new technical employees and consultants.

Developed a system to monitor network traffic on Cisco routers using C++, Perl, SNMP and Sybase. Responsible for both data collection and storage side of system as well as web based graphing and administrative interface using PHP.
