Senior Staff Engineer And Manager
Senior Staff Engineer
Member Of The Technical Staff
• Developing Resonant's XBAR resonator technology to provide new solutions for emerging 5G filter needs• Developing FEM-based acoustic models for Surface Acoustic Wave resonator devices• Analyzing and interpreting RF measurement data of filters and acoustic resonators• Studying fundamental physical behavior of piezoelectric resonator devices to yield insights for improved performance• Monitoring fabrication of acoustic filter devices and diagnosing failure modes and process improvements
Research Assistant
My thesis involved techniques to improve the performance of X-ray free electron lasers. This work involved:• Experimental work setting up, aligning, and operating multiple class IV laser systems• Design and construction of EUV photon diagnostics• Analysis and visualization of large sets of experimental and simulated data• Numerical simulations on large, distributed computing clusters• Use of genetic algorithms to perform multivariate optimization• Analytical electromagnetic calculations from first principles
Intern - Systems Performance Analyst
I created an algorithm to simulate gas pressure inside a hit-to-kill smart kinetic energy vehicle (SKEV) and maintain constant thrust levels through several exhaust nozzles. I implemented and optimized this algorithm on a Propeller microcontroller chip, ultimately achieving a ~1000Hz refresh rate on all fluid state variables. I planned and began construction of a small-scale test of the vehicle with this algorithm implementation, which was to take place in the future. Separately, I serviced, maintained, and operated an electrical power simulation program in support of the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle. This involved updating electrical hardware, connections, and geometry to fit changing design needs for the vehicle and running various simulations including varied orbits and electrical failure modes. This work transformed the software from derelict state to a user-capable program as a selling point for customers.
Teaching Assistant
I have taught physics discussion and laboratory sections, both for algebra and calculus based courses. I was the head teaching assistant for an introductory mechanics physics course for pre-med majors.
Research Assistant
I created a data analysis pipeline, implemented optimal detection criteria, and analytically and numerically developed a new, streamlined formalism to detect gravitational waves using radio observations of millisecond pulsars. I have also diagnosed, tested, and appended to large C and FORTRAN codes, leading to more robust predictions of theoretical particle masses to improve detection algorithms for facilities such as CERN's Large Hadron Collider.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Performed original research simulating binary black hole mergers and their gravitational signatures. Designed computational control systems, performed 3D visualizations, and developed automation for creating high quality 3D visualizations.
Summer Research Student
Performed analytical and numerical calculations examining the possibility of discriminating between alternate theories of gravity using various gravitational wave detection networks (e.g. LIGO).
