More than that, we serve as an epicenter of enlightenment for our community and have played a significant role in building bridges of cultural understanding in the LGBT community and beyond.The Stonewall National Museum & Archives provides a unique cultural and intellectual alternative in the community and through our collections, programs and services we honor and explore the past while striving to engage, inform and inspire the next generation of our community’s leaders.From its founding in 1973, the Stonewall National Museum & Archives has grown into the largest lending library of its kind in the United States. Our circulating library holdings now number over 21,000 books and audio-visual materials. Our archives document a century of LGBT cultural and social history with an emphasis on the southeastern United States and contain more than 5,000 items including periodicals, oral history collections, business and association records, manuscripts, and relevant ephemera. Our library and archival collections have been professionally catalogued and are maintained according to accepted conservation and preservation standards.

Managed the first comprehensive, strategic plan for GCAC in over 20 years.Initiated a transparent, peer-review grants process.Doubled funding for expansion of Arts Education programming.

Knicely served as the Assistant Director and Accessibility Coordinator of the Maine Arts Commission. Knicely received two awards from the governor for outstanding leadership and service to the State of Maine, as well as two awards for his marketing and branding campaigns. Knicely directed the agency's international programs and worked with trade missions to France and a partnership exchange with Aomori, Japan. Further, Knicely served as a cultural ambassador to Cuba. Knicely managed the budgeting and grants process, oversaw the public art program, accessibility program, technology and communications for the agency. Knicely was also an agency liaison to the National Endowment for the Arts and Americans for the Arts. Knicely was instrumental in developing the Arts in the Capitol program.

Managed all aspects of fundraising, special events and government contracts for services. Reorganized the agency to streamline operations while maintaining client services and community visibility.

Managed the daily business, marketing, development and administrative programs and duties of the 100-acre sculpture park and museum. Gift Store and Library oversight as well as festival and special events development and oversight. Managed all human resource issues and accounting and finance offices. Successfully updated accounting software systems and re-implemented annual fundraising events.

Managed Corporate Campaign with the Corporate Cabinet of the Board, Managed major fundraisers including the Nutcracker Ball (one of the largest netting fundraisers in Ohio at the time), Mardi Gras and International Nights. Assisted with other development functions, fundraising, grants and proposals.
