My coursework at UAA had a strong focus on preparing students for real-world situations encountered during the management of construction projects. UAA’s recurrent use of real-life project documents in their curriculum teach students how to effectively analyze project risks, create phasing plans, build estimates, compose schedules, and manage quality control processes. I also recognize the importance of field experience in readying an entry level construction manager for real project management work. I have not let on-site work experience take a back seat during my education at UAA, and in the last four summer seasons been employed on several construction projects across Alaska.
