I am passionate about finding creative solutions to agricultural problems. My experience shows my three biggest interests: agriculture, entrepreneurship, and international work. I don't always get to mix all three at once but I am constantly pursuing new opportunities to grow myself, my experiences and my knowledge in these areas.

Agroecology Project AdvisorFriends And Family Community Connection May 2017 - Jan 2019Greater San Diego AreaAs an advisor for FFCC, I have continued to support their work in agriculture and local procurement of food aid in Haiti. I interpret and manage their seed bank project which loans seeds to farmers in need and the farmers pay back those seeds at the end of their growing season so the project may continue and grow.

Agroecology Project ManagerFriends And Family Community Connection Jan 2015 - May 2017HaitiDesigned and managed an agroecology program for FFCC. This five year program consists of research and implementation of sustainable agriculture practices. It is focused on using natural fertilizers and natural pesticides to increase yields for local farmers. In addition to agroecology, the project is transitioning FFCC from importing food aid grown and packed in the U.S., to a locally procured and assembled food aid product called Manje Lakay. This product is aimed for family use and to replace the imported food aid known as the "Manna Pack". Our team also initiated a school feeding project that supplies two schools with locally grown food. We manage the purchasing, cleaning and distribution to ensure a high quality product for the 500 students. The project continues to be refined to become more cost-effective and able to scale-up, while maintaining the project's objective to provide nutritious meals to the students, create jobs in the community, and support Haiti's agricultural sector. Major duties included but are not limited to; Designing and planning the project’s objectives Coordinating project activities Managing and working a two acre experimental garden Analyzing food prices across local markets Developing and implementing a school feeding program with local foods Developing a food aid product for family use with local foods Managing a budget over $100,000 per year for 2015-2017 Assembling monthly financial reports Managing four full time staff and up to twelve part time employees Writing monthly reports and yearly reports Presenting work to funders and other participants Hosting three American volunteer teams every year Managing American and Haitian volunteers working in the experimental garden and other activities

Community Farming CoordinatorInternational Rescue Committee Feb 2017 - Apr 2018Greater San Diego AreaAs a coordinator, I helped support more than 120 low-income families with community garden plots in both City Heights and El Cajon. Half of my job was managing two existing community gardens with very diverse gardeners to ensure the gardens were safe and clean for the benefit of all participants and their neighborhoods. The other half of the job was coordinating Youth FarmWorks, a paid-internship program for high school students that taught them to grow vegetables at IRC’s urban farm in City Heights, how to successfully sell the produce at farmers’ markets and basic job skills.
