Working in the field of liquid crystals utilizing advanced microscopy methods, including atomic force microscopy, near-field scanning probe microscopy, florescent confocal imaging, and polarized optical imaging. I also have experience in experiment automation, including programming with python, matlab and mathematica.

Modified and ran the Talys nuclear cross-section prediction program in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. To complete this project, I learned to program in C and Fortran, and learned to make use of the linux environment. I wrote, altered, analyzed, and debugged code. When we had working software, I utilized Livermore Computing machines to run the program in parallel to generate 2700 cross sections for the (n, gamma) and (n, 2n) reactions for most known isotopes, then processed and visualized the resulting data to document which target/isotope systems were affected by our alteration of the existing code. I documented the work and wrote a thesis describing the results.
