Office of Commissioner Davante Lewis - (District 3)This is an investigative and enforcement position. The incumbent is responsible for interpreting, investigating, and enforcing Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) rules and regulations and applicable State and Federal laws governing public utilities (gas, water, electric, sewage, telecommunications) and the motor carrier transportation industry. Incumbent is responsible for the LPSC District 3 territory encompassing 10 parishes. Incumbent travels the multi-parish are meeting with consumers, parish officials, utility personnel located in towns and cities within the District. The incumbent is required to have knowledge of all facets and functions of the LA Public Service Commission.

The Legislative Branch is largely composed of the Senate under the direction of the SGA Vice-President as senate president. The main purpose of the Senate is to secure the protection of the student's rights and to preserve academic freedom and responsibility. The committees within the Senate will legislate over student, government, athletic, academic, administrative, and financial affairs.

TORCH: The Academy of Politics is an education leadership training designed for aspiring candidates, campaign staff, and education advocates to learn what it takes to run a successful electoral campaign and transform the power structures in the Baton Rouge education ecosystem.

* Organize and maintain relationships with other organizations for partnership with campus events, activities, etc. * Oversee monthly operations and tasks for the organization; ensuring that everyone is held accountable for their roles. * Track the success of the organization and monitor progress for further development as we become more active on the campus. * Speak on behalf of the organization at different events where other students become aware of the role and mission. * Direct any media coverage to ensure a positive public image is being set out to other possible members. * Implement and communicate all strategies to ensure smooth flow of public relations (media, partnerships, announcements, speaking gigs, etc).

Each year, LSAC partners with host law schools to prepare aspiring legal professionals for law school success. Through a unique immersive learning experience, the LSAC PLUS Program offers selected participants a window into what law school is really like while providing supportive insights about the law school enrollment journey.The PLUS Program is specifically aimed at undergraduate students and prospective law school applicants one year away from applying who are from minoritized groups that are underrepresented in the legal profession. In addition to gaining insights on the law school admission process, future career options, and more, participants build confidence and community through supportive networking and mentoring relationships as they immerse in a program that intentionally addresses the challenges faced by minoritized students on their prelaw through practice journey.

The Jewel Limar Prestage Public Policy, Polling, and Research Center, housed in Southern University’s Nelson Mandela College of Government and Social Sciences, mission is to be a premier research center producing scholarly research, public opinion data, and producing policy briefs to contribute to relevant public policy debates that affect issues in the local community, state, nation, and the world. Furthermore, it will provide a training ground to equip undergraduate and graduate students with the requisite research and analytical skills to enable them to be competitive in a global marketplace.

Responsibilities and services include:• Attending monthly meetings.• Coordinating with Club Director and President.• Being the Club’s Spokesperson. This may entail: responding to email inquiries, and maintaining social media accounts.• Working closely with school administration and the faculty & staff.• Planning, coordinating, and executing events such as, on and off campus activities, as well as guest speakers.• Listening to the needs of fellow club members, and advocating on their behalf.
