I facilitate the equitable advancement of geothermal energy technologies for heating, cooling, and electricity generation for the State of Colorado. This scope includes providing subject matter expertise to inform policy and reports, writing legislation, coordinating across state agencies and Governor Jared Polis’ office, supporting outreach/engagement/education with diverse stakeholders and communities across Colorado, and administering incentives.Oversee the $12 million Geothermal Energy Grant Program authorized by HB22-1381 in the support of developing the shallow geothermal (single structure building and thermal energy network heating and cooling systems) and deep geothermal (electricity and direct use) market. In May 2024, the first Request for Application announced 35 grants totaling $7.7 million that support over $100 million in investment.Oversaw the development and support the ongoing administration of Colorado’s 2023 Geothermal Energy Tax Credit Offering (including the Geothermal Investment Tax Credit and Production Tax Credit) and the Heat Pump Tax Credit Offering worth upward of an estimated $250 million of state incentives by 2032.

Solar United Neighbors is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights. Launched the Colorado Program of Solar United Neighbors through deploying solar co-op programs (group buys), building diverse coalitions, fostering community engagement, collaborating across local governments, and supporting advocacy across the state.Deployed 16 solar co-ops across rural and urban Colorado, helping 400 families and businesses install 2.5+ MW of rooftop solar. These projects will provide an estimated $12.4 million in energy savings over their lifespans, supporting an estimated 41 jobs while investing $7.8 million into the local economy.Secured $300,000 in funding from municipalities, grants, and individual funders for implementing solar co-op programs, and an additional $425,000 in support of low-to-moderate income household rebates.Fostered community engagement and advocacy for solar policies through earned media; events including town halls, educational panels, multimedia storytelling, trivia nights; and grassroots organizing including canvassing, lobbying, and other outreach tactics.Lobbied to foster energy equity with inclusive utility investment policy, which will facilitate cost-saving home energy improvements like energy efficiency and solar without requiring debt or credit from the consumer.

Supported the revitalization and ongoing strategic facilitation of over a dozen volunteer-led programmatic priorities with the Conservation Program, engaging a supporter list of over 100,000 Coloradans through regular communications, events, and grassroots mobilization to advance environmental/conservation policies. Developed and implemented the successful Colorado Ready for 100 Campaign, a distributed organizing model initiative which recruited over 100 leaders and 10,000 supporters. This work led to over a dozen cities committing to 100% renewable energy by 2035 and, ultimately, Xcel Energy and the State of Colorado to commit to a renewable energy future.

Organizing Representative for the Sierra Club working to develop strategies and implement community organizing tactics to explore, enjoy, and protect the planet. Supported the Colorado Beyond Coal to Clean Energy Campaign from Sept 2011 through Sept 2014 and the Our Wild America (Wild) Colorado Initiative from Sept 2014 through 2015. Highlights include:• Managed a team of 15 Sierra Club staff, coalition partners, and volunteers to recruit over 550 supporters to attend the EPA’s Denver Clean Power Plan hearing in July 2014; testimonies were 10:1 in favor of the rule• Developed and implemented comprehensive community power mapping outreach strategies in the summer of 2013 to find engagement opportunities to promote clean energy in Colorado; process now is required• Researched and created a report advocating for the retirement of the Colorado Springs’ downtown Martin Drake coal-fired power plant during 2012, creating the public pressure necessary to move the Utilities Board to assess the feasibility of retiring the facility• Coordinated the 2013 Colorado Climate Legacy Roundtable at the University of Denver with a theme of pursuing solutions to climate change; this event brought together eight diverse perspectives including environmental advocacy organizations, the City of Denver, the US Army, and Tri-State Electric Cooperative for the benefit of 70 attendees and online video distribution• Led a coordinated effort of over 100 volunteers for Flood Recovery Weekend in October of 2013, bringing together a dozen partners in just two weeks including the cities of Boulder and Longmont to create six cleanup opportunities throughout the region• Supported the Browns Canyon National Monument Celebration by holding a Leadership Camping trip, group picnic, hikes, participated with a dignitary rafting trip, provided bus transportation, and joined the official designation celebration for a total of upward of 100 diverse participants throughout the weekend

West Chester, Pennsylvania

Served as the Assistant Director for the Westchester, PA canvassing office supporting the hiring, training, and supervision of a dozen canvassing staff including several who were promoted to field managers. Our office raised over $93,000 (172% of our goal) for programmatic work to protect Pennsylvania waterways, support LGBT equal rights, and fight corn and soy subsidies that promote obesity with the Fund for the Public Interest. Across these campaigns I cumulatively assisted in the outreach of over 15,000 members of the public, worked with dozens of coalition partners, and utilized tactics including phone calling, petitioning, and door-to-door outreach.

Green Corps is a field school for environmental organizing whose participants provide support and gain real-world experience by running campaigns with partner groups. As a class of 2011 field organizer, my program highlights included:• Doubling regional capacity by opening a new campaign field office for voter outreach with CREDO Action in Los Angeles to defend California’s global warming law• Moving the Mayor of Houston to ask for more studies regarding proposed oil pipelines with the Sierra Club• Defending local ranchers in North Dakota with Food and Water Watch by moving both US Senators to support transparency and fairness in the industry while supporting a statewide organizing conference
