When I introduce myself to others and tell them I'm a Field Engineer, many people give me a odd look. This is because a Field Engineer can have a lot of specific job requirements. Some of these include laying out a project, taking measurements, examining plans, or working in a GIS environment. In reality, I do a bit of all these tasks. My true passion is realworld GIS application. In my current role this includes creating a GIS generated map of newly installed Gas Mains. However, that is just beginning of GIS goals. The application of GIS throughout the world is not yet fully realized. I want to help grow the industry by informing business leaders, governmental leaders and the general public at large. With the correct application of GIS, the world will become more organized and improve the lives of everyone!
