Back in March 2002, I set off on a journey as a first-generation builder, committed to redefining the way Kansas City views one-of-a-kind home building. I was driven by the words of my father, who always told me: “Whatever you choose to do in life, do it, but do it better than anyone else.”Today my business is referral-based, and I’ve carved out a niche among clients with exacting standards. Yet my greatest achievement continues to be the friendships I’ve developed with past clients, some of whom are no longer in Kansas City. There’s a lot to be said for always choosing to do things the right way.Here are my core values and beliefs about custom home building:+ Custom should always be a ground-up design that is truly yours.+ I will turn down a job if I’m asked to build the same thing twice. I’ll never do it.+ I insist on being personally involved with all of my projects and clients. No matter how big we get, I’ll never give that up.+ I am the only homebuilder in Kansas City with an authentic approach to custom home building. (If you believe otherwise, let’s debate it. Beer is on me.)+ Style is paramount to good design. Every client has a personal design aesthetic. It’s my job to find it.+ I’ll never mindlessly do what a client wants if there’s a better way. It’s my job to make every home the best it can be.+ My work is scalable. It’s a misconception that luxury is synonymous with big. It’s not about the size of the house. It’s about the quality.
